Kempthorne. Prosser and Co. and Sharland and 'Co. (combined), 'v. West End rj.fi.— This match was played on Saturday. ;md resulted in a win for the former by 20 runs. The combined team, batting first, compiled 45, E. Lyell (10 being the only batsman to get double figures "West. End's Ist innings totalled 37, Martin being top scorer with 11. Tue combined team's 2nd innings closed for 42 Gazzard (15), E. Lyell (11), being the chief scorers. West End did net fare much better in their second innings, being all out for 30, Fricker being top scorer with 11. The bowling on botn sides was very deadly, which accounted for the small scores registered. For Kempthorne and Sharland's E. Lyell was in good form, taking 6 wickets for 1< in the Ist innings, and 8 wickets for 15 in the 2nd innings. For West End Brobevg C for 25, and 4 for 23, and Guerin 5 for 20. bowled well. Birkenhead v. Mayfield.-Mayfield, Ist innings, 40 (Greaves 8, Hazelwood 9); Birkenhead, 129 (H. Stewart 39, R. McClymont 23, Chappell 19, Buchanan 12, McPteiil 11). For Birkenhead Riddell took G wickets for 6 runs.
