HE MAYFIELD MEETING.

Sir, —Your correspondent, Mr Sainsbury, is quite right in not allowing the claims of Mayfield to be lightly considered in the matter of the send off to the Premier. Mayfield is an important place already and rising rapidly into prominence, and its public men snouid be regarded as such and Trot lost in the army of signatories that will be attracted to the testimonial to our great man, the Hon. R, J. Seddon'. Now that the Ministers of the Crown have been going round the colony so much and visiting so many districts, the claims of Mayfield certainly should be considered by them, and the first available opportunity taken of visiting the district and seeing- its remarkable growth, and also allowing an opportunity of meeting witii at least some of the prominent men of that place. Auckland of course has a right to be considered in the matter of the testimonial, but Mr Sainsbury should insist that the claims of Mayfield are not overlooked in any shape or form. —I am, etc.,
