The" annual installation meeting- of Lodge St. Andrew, No. 418, S.C., takes place this evening.
At the junior Civil Service examination, held last month, Miss A. McGettigan and F. Cog-an, of St. Leo's Academy, Devonport, passed. Miss McGettigan also passed the matriculation examination held last December.

Mr. P. E. Severne reports that the state of His Majesty^ prison at Auckland for the week ending Saturday last was as follows: A waitlag trial,. 3 males; penal servitude (life), 2 males; hard labour, 161 males, 16 females; imprisonment, I male; default of bail, 1 male; received during the week, 10 males; discharged, 9 males, 4 females; total in prison, 168 males, 16 females.
