ALLEGED FORGERY.
At the Police Court this morning a yo.ung man named Harry Hart, apparently not belonging to the prosperous class, appeared to answer a charge of having, on January 20th, at Auckland, forged a cheque for £53 16/ on the Bank of New Zealand. Chief Detective Grace asked for a remand until Monday next, as the accused was only arrested yesterday afternoon. Accused made a somewhat rambling statement, in which he said that the police had got the wrong man. He asserted that he had monej' in the bank at Dunedin. His Worship granted the remand as asked.
