SMALLPOX ON EASTERN STEAMER.
MELBOURNE, Friday.
On the arrival of the steamer Eastern from Chinese ports, after calling at Sydney, the second officer was declared to be in the convalescent stage of smallpox.
(Received 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The small-pox case when the steamer Eastern was at Brisbane and Sydney was diagnosed as chicken pox. The patient was ill only a few days, and had resumed duty.
