WELLINGTON TRADES COUNCIL.

THE PRESIDENT'S PROTEST

SUSTAINED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day

An acrimonious discussion took place at a meeting held by the Trades Council last night, with reference to the action of President Naughton, who had resigned on account of the anti-war resolution passed at a previous meeting. The debate chiefly centred round the charge made against Mr Naughton of having sent a copy of his resignation to the press before it reached the Council. The matter was discussed 'till 1 a.m., when it was decided by 24 to 12 that the .resignation be not accepted. Notice of motion was given to rescind the anti-war resolution.
