THE CITY LOAN.
AMOUNT OVER-SUBSCRIBED,
Tenders for the city loan of £45,----000 were opened at the City Council last evening. In all sixteen tenders
were received, the amounts ranging from £100 to £25,000. The total amount of the tenders was £4-9,600, of which £2000 was at a preniiurn of £1 per cent., £300 at a premium, of 15/ per cent., and £500 at a premium of 2/6 per cent., the remainder, £44,----100, being at par. The tender of £25,000 was from the Auckland Savings Bank, the balance being private tenders ranging up to £3000. The matter was left in the hands of the Mayor and chairman of the Finance Committee to accept tenders. The Mayor stated that another £10,000, the third instalment of the last £100,000 loan, would be called for in April next.
