WOOL SALES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, this day,
The first wool sale of the season was held to-day. There was a large attendance of buyers representative of the different wtoollen mills in the country and also English buyers. Prices, though considerably lower than those prevailing at the same date last year, in most cases exceeded anticipations from reports furnished by the late London sales and other parts of the colony. The feature of the sale ' was the spirited manner well grown crossbred hogget wool was booked for prices reaching in some cases within a fraction of last year's rates. This was also the case in connection with prices for bellies, etc. For ordinary crossbred fleeces prices dropped somewhere about 20 per cent., half-bred 10 per cent. Prices were good for half-breds at 6d to 7£d; dingy and faulty, 4Jd to s|d; fine crossbred fleece, 4jd to s^d; coarse, 3d to 4d; fine crossbred hogget, 4i_d to 54d; coarse^ 3J4 jjq i4_d_
