The Emperor, during- the pageant, was listless and indifferent. The Dowager was smiling1 and confident. Her recognition of foreigners has been much commented on.
General Yuenshaiki, who exterminated Boxerism in the Shantung province, has received the decoration of the Yellow Jacket.
Chingu, a Boxer, has been appointed Governor of Pekin.
Two of General Tungfuhsiang's chief lieutenants at the siege of the Legations accompanied the Dowager. They are destined for high commands.
