PAPAKURA.
At Papakura on Monday last a concert and dance was held in the Public Hall in aid of the new Papakura Brass Band. Mr Ewen D. McLennan presided, and an excellent programme was well rendered and received by a large audience. The items were supplied by the Wairoa Brass Band, who gave two overtures, a piano overture by Miss Prince, a reading by the Rev. T. Norrie, recitations by_ Mr Warren, a euphonium solo by Mr J. THxon, and songs by Misses McEwen, Oouldry, M. E. Cossey and Messrs Warren and H. Absolum, the piano accompaniments being well played by Mrs Michelly and Misses Chapman and C. Cossey. A humorous farce was well rendered, entitled "Don't Judge by Appearances," in which Misses Black and Binney and Messrs Harrowell, Black and Hay took part.
