FRENCH SUBMARINE ACCIDENT.
CREW NARROWLY ESCAPE

LONDON, October 31
The '"Daily Express" states that the French submarine Triton, while testing her plunging apparatus at Cherbourg, sunk rapidly. She struck the bottom with some force, and commenced to fill rapidly. She rose again slowly, and with difficulty.
The crew, who had a narrow escape, were terrified in the extreme.
