SLY GROG-SELLING.

HAMILTON, this day

At the Te Awamutu S.M. Court yesterday, a native named Popoki, who on Tuesday last appeared as informant in a number of sly grog cases, was charged with selling whisky. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £50 and £4 0/ costs. "Defendant said he would go to gaol. His Worship replied: "Wheu you have done a month the police will no doubt consider whether there was not a case of perjury.''

A magical and musical entertainment, concluding with a dance, will be given in the Otahuhu Hall tonight.

The Auckland Young Helpers hold their annual sale of work and concert in the V.M.C.A. Rooms on July 12th. Miss Alice Rimmer is arranging the concert, particulars of which will appear later on. Contributions of all kinds are invited to the sale.

"Pleasant Thursday Evenings'' at Beresford-sireftt Congregational Church are growing in favour. Last night there was quite a large attendance. The Rev. John Wilkins presided, and the Rev. .Mr Garland delivered a short address that was mnch appreciated. The West End Orchestra contributed a couple of items and Miss Mary Laing sang two solos very creditably.
