Sir,—While I admire Mr. W. .T. Napier's watchful interest in trying- to secure the arch now standing opposite Victoria-street as an entrance gate to the Victoria Park, it is to be regretted that the structure is only about worth the cost of pulling down, from, the fact that it is constructed with second-class timber, as its outward appearance will demonstrate to any practical eye. Therefore it is not worth troubling the Government about the matter.—l am, etc.,
