MR FOWLDS AND "A" BATTERY.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Without in any way detracting from the credit due to Messrs Napier and Withe ford for their efforts on behalf of our own corps, J wish to draw attention to the fact that Mr Fowlds also did yeoman service in getting justice done to our fellows, being in fact the first to wire to Wellington about the matter. Ro the statement that Colonel White had practically a free hand, in justice to Col. White I would like to state that this is incorrect. The instructions were that field artillery without guns were not required. Let the blame be where it belongs. The best thanks of the Battery are due to our M.'sH.R., Col. White, Capt. O'Brien, and the press, including the Press Association representative, who gave colonial publicity to the facts.—l am, g tc> * ' BOMBARDIEB.
