THE AUCKLAND RECEPTION.

A meeting of the Finance Committee of the Auckland Reception Committee was held yesterday afternoon, when a number of accounts were passed for payment. Messrs E. Bartley, D. Goldie, and J. J. Holland were appointed a sub-committee to deal with disputed accounts. As far as can be seen ■the total expenditure will be £2408 3/2, of which the City Council contribute one-third, £802 16/. There will be an apparent surplus of £297 4/3, with more to come in from the sale of tools, and probably a few subscriptions, making the total surplus over £300. When accounts are finally adjusted a meeting oi the General Committee will be held to decide as 'to' the disposal of the surplus. In view of the liberality of the natives on the occasion of the Duke's visit there is a general feeling that the Queen Victoria School for Maori Girls should receive the surplus funds.
