WAIHEKE ISLAND..

A pretty wedding was celebrated at Walheke Island on the 4th of June, when Miss Margaret Grace Gordon, third daughter ot Mr and Mrs W. Gordon, of Awaroa Bay, was married to Mr John Day, of Takatu, formerly of Waiheke. The ceremony,whleh was choral, was performed by the Rev. W. Gray Dixon, M.A., minister of St. David's Church Auckland. The wedding took place ia the hall adjoining Mr Gordon's residence, which had been most tastefully decorated with palms and flowers for the occasion, an area of nlkaus and camellias, from which was suspended a horse-shoe of Marguerite daisies, being specially noticeable. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in her grey cloth dress, trimmed with cream satin and chiffon, with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried an exquisite bouquet of choice white flowers. Misses Annie and Lilly, sisters of I the bride, were bridesmaids, Miss Annie being dressed in a pretty cream, trimmed with Valenciennes lace, insertion and ribbon, and Miss Lilly In a myrtle gTeen, trimmed with cream silk and ribbou, each wearing a beautiful gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Both carried choice bonquets. Mr W. Connell acted as best man. After the ceremony Mrs Gordon entertained her guests, about 70 in number, to wedding breakfast. The Key. W. Gray Dixon proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom in a few happily chosen words, and the toast was drunk amidst cheers. Many friends came from Coromandel, Southern Wairoa, and Auckland for the wedding. In the evening there, was a ball, at which dancing was kept up with great enthusiasm till next morning. The large number of valuable and beautiful presents of which the happy pair were the recipients mart* the high esteem in which both are heldJby a large circle of friends and acquaintances. —(Own Correspondent.)
