ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
A large number of horses were working1 at Ellerslie this morning, ami the arrival of the visitors has made things lively here. Yesterday afternoon Cavaliero galloped two miles, moving soundly over the last one, and this morning; went freer than he did yesterday, working after breakfast. Cannongate, Balbirnie, Hastings, Formula, Motor, Bacchus, Honesty, St. Ursula, La Gloria, Kosella, Rags and St. Peter did steady to medium, pacing, the last-mentioned pair brushing along down the straight, at top. Sundial and Employer sprinted three furlongs. Verdi and Tuirne put in strong work. After breakfast Admiral Hawke, Princess of Thule, Tarragon, Paul Seaton, St. Olga, Jemima, Dayntree, Pungarehu, Dartmoor, Sylvanus, Forty-seven, Romantic, Rolf, Mars and The Needle worked steadily. Haeata jumped the hurdles moderately; Coeur de Lion and Moifaa put in two circuits at half pace. Fashion moved very sore. Regalia 11. and Hairtrigger went for a school together on tlu;' course proper, the former dislodging Fergus at the second hurdle. Remounted, he jumped two flights alone in the course, and then took two turns over the hurdles inside the enclosure, jumping well. Nor'-west bowled along freely over two circuits. After breakfast Blackberry, Kaimate and Freewill went once round over the Steeplechase course, the two former jumping well, and leaving Freewill a long way behind. Plain Bill was worked steadily.
