AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS.
REGULATION OF TRAFFIC
The Mayor (Dr. J. Logan Campbell) received the following telegram from tbe Premier last night: —
'"The following are the recommendations made by tbe Commissioner of Police in reference to the barricading of the streets and the stoppage of vehicular traffic at your city on the occasion of the visit of their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess'of Cornwall and York, and are forwarded for your information and guidance:-—
"Auckland: Landing ceremony and procession to Government House—A strong wooden barricade to be erected at tbe junction of Custom and Quay streets with Queen-street, about fifty yards from end of wharf (except a sufficient opening to permit procession to pass through after the close of the. ceremony at the end of wharf), thus keeping a clear space for the ceremony in question. A similar barricade across all streets intersecting Queen, Wellesley West, Symonds, O'Rorke, and Princes streets, at tb_ points where they junction with the streets named, and which form the line of route between the wharf and Government House. Ropes to be run along tbe Venetian masts on both sides of the line of route .indicated above. Vehicular traffic to be stopped along the line of route one hour before the time of landing and for halfan*hour after procession passes.
"Review at Potter's Paddock: Ropes to be placed" across the principal intersecting streets along tbe line of route (four miles), to keep out vehicles. Traffic to be stopped along this route one hour before tbe Royal party leaves Government House and until hali'-an-houv after return.
Illuminations: All vehicular traffic to be stopped in Queen and other principal illuminated streets from six p.m. till ten p.m.. "R. J. SEDDON."
