THAMES NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
THAMES, this day.
Thomas Henderson, an old offender, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for stealing a quantity of bottles from Menzies and Company. Frederick White was charged with indecent assault on a child of seven years at Waiomo. The evidence of the child was that ,on frequent occasions, the accused indecently assaulted her, inducing her to' go into his house, giving her lollies in return. There was quite a painful scene in the Court, which was cleared. The child sobbed, and the mother had to be called in to quieten her. Tbe evidence was of a disgusting character, details being unfit for publication. Accused, who is a married man, with his hair streaked ■with grey, was committed for trial.
