LONDON, June 3
There is much disciisslon among the Chinese regarding the means of paying tbe annual instalments of the indemnity. The Chinese authorities at Pekin object to the interference with the rice tribute, and suggest the substitution of the Likin on salt and native Customs. Southern Viceroys declare that Pekin is seeking to make them pay tbe whole amount. The Hongkong correspondent of tbe "Times" states that France will annex Hainan in July..
General Waldersee starts homeward to-day, leaving a force equivalent to that of Britain. The Japanese have withdrawn 9000 men.
LONDON, June 3
Germany, Britain and France are the only Powers garrisoning points connecting Pekin with the sea. BERLIN, June 2. The German ironclad squadron has left Wusuug, bound homewards.
