"CLOUD COMPELLERS."
HE King of Italy recently paid a visit to the Artillery Depot, outside the gate of San Lorenzo, at Rome, for the purpose of inspecting the hail - dispersing
cannons which were there arranged. These strange weapons are intended for the bombardment of the clouds whenever* —laden with hail —they threaten the, vineyards of Italy; it has been found
that by their assistance danger is averted from the hailstones, which are the terror of wine-growers. The King paid special attention to the machines, and was received by a salvo from them on his arrival and departure.—"Daily Graphic,"
