REASON FOR HIS DELAY.
An Irishman, accused of appropriating a pair of trousers, was tried some time ago at a Petty Sessions Court not far from Belturbet. The evidence for the prosecution was so ably handled by the accused's lawyer that the case was dismissed. Barney's legal adviser told his client he was free to leave the dock and go home, hut there was no sign of movement to depart. This was repeated twice, when the solicitor said with Irritation to his client, "Why don't you go? You are free." Barney (leaning forward to whisper): "Indade and Oi did not want to move rill them witnesses had left." Lawyer: "For what reason?" Barney: "Bckase 01 hare on the stolen trousers."
