TO CURE MEASLES
Dr. Chatiniere, well-known as a specialist in skin affections, claims-to bare discovered a. simple ami certain cure for measles. It is only necessary for the patient to undergo his treatment, like a photographic plate, in red light. Dr. Chatiniere's attention was drawn to the fact that women in certain regions, notably the Vosges and the Caucasus, always wrap their children when suffering from measles in red cloths. Having noted this primitive habit, and comparing it with the discovery of Dr. Finsen, of Copenhagen, that the ultra-violet rays of the solar spectrum have an irritant effect on the skin, Dr. Chatiniere's own experiments enabled him subsequently to pronounce definitely that violet rays increase the rash on'the skin, while the red rays strengthen not only the skin but the wholo body against the attacks of measles. Another doctor, M. Dexmier, testifies that a child kept entirely m red light got rid of a very sharp attack of measles in five days. Both doctors are pursuing their investigations vigorously. j
