FIRES AT THE WADE.
ALLEG ED INCENDIARTSM.
(By TelegTaph.—Own Correspondent.)
WADE, this day
At 5 a.m. this morning a smalt building at the Wade, formerly occuN pied by Messrs. Brunton Bros., was totally gutted by fire. More recently the building was used as a storaroom for gum by Messrs. Thomas Lees & Sons, and there were about 700 sacks of gum in it, which were only insured for £300. An attempt at incendiarism was made at 10.30 o'clock last night, but failed, the flames being discovered in time, and prevented from extending to the adjacent buildings by the combined efforts of the residents of the Wade, and crews of Orewa and Kotiti. The police .were on the spot at the time of the conflagration, and are now investigating the matter.
