BRITISH AND COLONIAL CASUALTIES.
LONDON, May 31
The following casualties are reported in connection with the fighting between Bethel and Standerton:
South Australian Bushmen: Privates Goodes,- killed; Corporal Landsdell and Private Hicks, wounded.
Queensland Eushmen: ' Privates Hunt and Hendry, killed; Corporal Mitchell and Privates Wheatley, Hil-
vey, Mason, Campbell, Careless. Sweeney, and Tomp, wounded. One of the 10th Hussars was killed
and seven wounded. Two of the Ist Munster Fusiliers were killed and six wounded. One of the Somerset Regiment was killed and four wounded. A private of the 12th Lancers avus killed and an Engineer wounded.
No official details of the fighting have been received, the "Standard's" correspondent being responsible for the report- of Viljoen's attack on Colonel Plumer's convoy.
The. total casualties reported, including' minor, engagements, in the Transvaal, Orange River and Cape Colonies, number 30 lulled and 58 wounded. :
The casualties at Klippan included the following:—Victorian Mounted Rifles: Lieutenant Wedd, severely; and Privates Town and Corlean, slightly wounded.
A later report shows that a mixed force of Queensland Bushmen, Royal Munster Fusiliers, and other troops, escorting a convoy near Bethel, were attacked on May 25. A running light took place, lasting six hours.
Colonel Plumer's main column has brought to Standerton several waggons full oi families, thousands of cattle and many horses.
