THE DEFIANCE.
The brigantine Defiance arrived from Woollongong this morning and anchored in the stream. Dr. Sharman (Health Officer) proceeded cut to the vessel, and, after making a medical inspection, admitted her to pratique. The Defiance brings a full cargo of coals from Woollongong.
The captain, Mr G. Kassens, reports that the Defiance left Woollongong on May 18, and experienced south-west and north-west winds to within 100 mile^ of Cape Maria Van Dieman; was becalmed for four days and rounded North Cape on Thursday afternoon last, with north winds and good sea to arrival.
The Defiance proceeds to Chelsea this afternoon to discharge her 320 tons of coal for the Colonial Sugar Co., and on completion of " discharge will undergo a general overhaul here.
