SPORTS AT TAUPIRI.
The sports tield in Mrs linveir.s paddock on L'lrh May were a great success, good tU'ido and close finishes being the order of the day. The following are tho results: — Maiden, 120yds.—O'Lcary, 1; Harvey, -'. Boys' Race, under 10.—UeoII. Hall, 1; L. Welch, 2.
Hurdles, 150 yds.—C. Madden. 1; A. Patterson, 2: W. Moore, 3. Hadden won by two yards.
I'uttins the Shot.—G. Wallace, 36ft Sin, 3; A. Welch, 34ft liv, 2., TdupLrl Cup, Orst stage, 100 yds.—A. Patterson, 4yds, 1; C. Hadden, 4yds, 2; W. Moore. 10yds, 8. A close finish.
High Jnmp.—E. Wallace and Phee, dead heat at sft 21n.
;Half-mlle.-G. Welch, luyda, 1: K. Cox, 30yds. 2: A. Locky, scr. 3. Won by three yards, after a good race.
Girls' Uuee, under Hi. —M. Campbell, t A. Mellars, 2.
Second stage of Cnp, 220 yds.—A, Patterson, oyds, 1; C. Hsuldcii, 6yds, 2; A. Lovell, ICyds, 3. Won by three yards.
Committee ttace.—The prize for this event was v handsome silver flank presented by the Oumpbell-Ehrenfried Cu.,:md was greutly admired. The result was: E. B. Cox, 15yds, I; G. Wallace, scr, 2; H. Waring, r>yds, H. A splendid race, the whole field finishing hi n bunch. A very popular win. Taupiri Cup, third stage.—A. Patterson, 7yds, 1; A. Lovell, 26yds, 2: C. Hfidden, 10yds. 8. Result of Cup: Patterson, 1; Hadden, 2; Lovoll. :). Ono Mile Handicap.—A. Locky. 10yds, 1: W. Hull, 50yds, 2; E. Cox, 50yds. 3. A splendid race; won by a yard, same distancr between second and third. Consolation Kace, 100yds.—F. O'Halloran. 10yds, 1; A. Harvey, oyds, 2. Wou by a foot.
