"WELLINGTON, this day.
Wind: Stroug from between north and west aud south-west at all places northward of Napier and New PI j mouth; gale from between north-east and north and west from thence southward to Tort Chalmers and Quetinstown, and from between north and west and south-west elsewhere. Barometer: Pall again soon everywhere. Sea: Heavy on all Western Coast, and on East. Coast 'southward of Castlepoint; moderate everywhere else. Tides: High on Western Coast, and on tne East Coast south of Castlepoint; moderate in all other parts. Rain may be expected iv all parts of tne country, and heavy in the South Island. Synopsis of the last 24 hours: Decreasing pressure everywhere until about 8 p.m., and since then it has risen, especially m the southernmost districts. Rain has fallen southward of Napier ami New Plymouth, and has been heavy in parts of the South Island. Strong winds to gales from the northward have; been prevalent south of Napier and Wanganui. Low pressure from west passed to the eastward of the meridian of South Cape yesterday about 6 p.m. Another^ is approaching, and one will pass on the 3rd June.
