UNION WAIHI.

The 'Union Waihi Company's return for the four weeks ending May 18 was .t'2424, the product of 1452 tons of ore. This makes the total output to date £15,420. lIANDSWORTH. A crushing of ore from the Handsworth mine, Kuaotunu, has just been completed by the owner, Mr Louis Woodcock, for a return of bullion worth £182 2/.

BARRIER REEFS.

The manager reports that at No 3 level, Barrier Reef section, tM'o blocks of ground are in hand, with four stopes in progress varying in length from 45 to •180 feet. Four stopes are also being worked in No. 2 level, same section. In the drive at the same level the lead is about 15 inches in width, and it has a kindly appearance, some of the stone being saved for treatment. Three stopes are in progress in the Great Barrier Section. The lode is strong and promising. In the main crosscut the. lode has been intersected ID feet. The manager reports that very encouraging prospects are being met with Very satisfactory progress has been made with the drive westward at No. 4. level, owing to the conducive character of the country.
