METHODIST CONFERENCE.
IMPORTANT RESOLUTIONS
(Received 9.51 a.m.)
BRISBANE, this day.
The Methodist General Conference adopted resolutions "that precedence of religious bodies in official functions should be accorded solely on the ground of the numerical strength of the churches, and apart altogether from any titles or designations of the heads thereof known"; also a resolution against any alteration of the coronation oath which would in any degree relax the safeguard ensuring the Protestant succession or permit the oath or declarations to be understood in any other than the ordinary meaning. It was further i-esolved to ask the Federal Premier to take steps to safeguard missionaries in the New Hebrides.
The union of Methodist churches will be deemed general from January Ist next, and the name of the Methodist Church of Australasia will be adopted, notwithstanding the non-in-clusion of New Zealand Primitives.
