; The Raglan County Council met at Ngaruawahia on Wednesday. Mr Howett had resigned the chairmanship ov. sixcount of an irregularity that had taken place at the annual meeting held on November. On the motion of Cr. McKinnon. seconded- by Cr. Bruce, cr. Hewett was elected chairman. The Waipa County Council wrote stating that it could not see its way to accept the Council's proposal re contribution to the Pirongia Bridge, and asking that in consideration of the waipa County Council handing over its territory on the weft side of the river and making the river the boundary, the ±taglan Council would take over control of the bridge, Waipa to contribute 10 per cer'.t. towards its maintenance. The clerk was instructed t« reply that if the Etaglan Council entertained the offer they would expect the Waipa body to bear 50 per cent, of the cost of maintenance; but in the meantime it was noc prepared to depart from its original proposal.
