Bates presided, aud the following programme was , successfully rendered: Anthem, "Welcome," the Choir; Plantation Hong and Chorus, Churchwarden auU family; cornet solo, Mr McMahwi; solo, "Queen of Angels," Mrs Holmes; authum, The Choir; solo, Mrs Donaldson; duet, Messrs Adams and Henderson; solo, Mv Taylor; baud selection, Wulhi Brass Band; solo, Miss Laudy; quartette, members of Choir; cornet solo, Mr McMinn; duet, members of Choir; solo, Mrs Holmes; anthem, the Choir; violin quartette, Mr Gardiner and pupils. Mr 11. Scobie acted ns conductor foi the choir, and Miss M. Morgan prc-fc'ded at the organ and piano. Master Havelock Benge, eldest son of Mr A, H. Benge, headmaster of the AVaibi district school, has just been informed by wire from Wellington that he passed successfully both the senior and junior Civil Service examinations. His name had been speK as Benze in the press reports. Muster Benge has been at the Auckland College and Grammar School for four years, but xeceived the groundwork of his education from hla father. He has now jbined the Assay Department of the Waihi G.M. Co. Nt Waihi.
The Rev. J. Featherstone of the Zion P.M. Church, Waihi, who is about to take his departure from Waihi, was farewelled on Friday evening in the Zion Church, the proceedings taking the shape of a social gathering and coffee supper, musical items by the choir, etc. Complimentary addresses were delivered by the Revs. J. J. Bates (Presbyterian),. W. Weatuernll (Wesleyan), aud \V. Perry (Baptist). The Key. Mr Wetherall in reply thanked tU>; speakers for their good opinion, and hoped to always have such good men to work with as the Keys. Bates and Weathenill.
A lecture entertainment, entitled "Hearts aud Faces," was given by the Rev. J. J. lirown, of Victoria, on Friday evening, in the Miners' Union Hal) t-n :• y>mi uudionce. The lecture was In aid of the Western!' Church Parsonage Fund. The Rev. 'Mr "Woatherall introduced the lecturer, who was well received.
