AUCKLAND SWIMMING CLUB.
ANNUAL CARNIVAL.
The annual carnival of the Auckland Swimming Club was held in the Calliope Dock on Saturday afternoon. The attendance was only moderate, there being about. 800 present. A programme of about thirty events was gone through, and as a result of capable handicapping of Mr W. B. Eyre, most of the finishes were very close. The carnival was managed by the committee of the Club, the details bolnj,' carried out by the secretaries, Messrs P. H. Hughes and 11. G. Chevis. Mr A. Goldwater acted as starter, Messrs L. W. Myers and J. W. Brown, assisted by Mr J. Russell, being judges. The Nfwtuu Brass Band was in attendance, playing v number of popular j airs. The various emits resulted as follows:— 75yds Novice.—First heat: R. O'Hare, uS, 1; F. Warbrick, 3s, '1. Second heat: K. C. O'Hare, scratch, ]; J. \V. Kussoll. 3s, 2. Third heat: W. K. Cox, scratch, 1; J. ¥. 'Mahoney, 2s, 2. Final: B. C. O'Hare, 1; Kussell, '■!; Warbrick, :;. Time. 535. O'Hare wcrn v good race by inches. Young Ladies' Handicap, 50yds.—Miss Rita Morltzson, 10s, 1; Miss Alma Marrett, 14s-, '>. 100 yds Provincial Championship.—Paul Graham, 1; R. Q. Halngor; 2; C. J. Sainty and W. T. Tyler, (lend heat, 3. Also started: 11. S. Hull. A splendid race all the way. Kuinger led most of the distance, but tired at the finish, and Graham came with v good spurt, winning by half a yard. Time, 70s. 50yds Boys* Handicap (under IG).—First heat: 10. C. Weston. 4s, 1; W. D'llenzy, 2s, 2. Second heat: B. lilukey, 7s, 1; P. Warbrick, Is, 2. Third heat: T. Foley, 3s. 1: S. Keane, Is, 2. Final: Blakey, 1: War~brlek, 2: Weston, 3. Time, 41 4-ss. Blakey won a close race by a few inches, Weston being close up third. 50yds Crowther Handicap.—First heat: H. G. Chevis, 3Js, and M.
