RECORD MILE BY ADVANCE.
(Received March 4, 10.55.) FLEMINGTON, this day. This morning, Advance, on the tan, covered a mile in 1.4&5.; which is a record for that d'Stance. Finland, on the tan, ran a mile in L4J«. Malster and Clean Sweep galloped nail a. mile in 54sec; Flintlock, a mile. Betting on the Australian Cup is 7 to i Finland, 5 to 1 Advance, 10 to 1 Malster. MELBOURNE, this) day. Owing to the rain little work was done on the track on Sunday. Advance was out early, and cantered gaily on. the tan, looking better for Saturday's race. Sanfran, assisted by Iron Hoop, went a mile and threequarters on the sand in 2m 31:}s. There was little betting on the Australian Cup on Saturday night. i2ODO to MO was accepted about Sanfran. Finland is nominally favourite at 7 to 2. Advance is quoted at 5 to 1, and Malster at 10 to 1. Dreamland is also favoured, and is likely to see a short price. Lancaster broke down after Saturday's race, and will be unable to race for some time.
