SUCCESSFUL MALE IMPERSONATOR.
LIVED THIRTY YEARS AS A MAN.
By the death of Murray H. Hall, in New York, last month, it was discovered that for the last thirty years a woman had passed herself off as a man, with sucn complete success that not until a physician laid out the body was the sex revealed. For thirty years Murray "H. Hall, the woman in question, had lived as v ir.arried man, having had two wives and surviving both.
For thirty years she consorted with • men as one of them; for thirty years she voted the Democratic ticket in the city. For the iast six years she was a member of the Iroquois Club, at 4 West Thirteenth street, the leading Taiunuiny organisation of the Fifth Assembly' district. She took part in political parades, carried torches and banners, went to saloons and Cigar stores, and treated when it was her turn, but not once did anyone suspect her sex.
Murray H. Hall was four feet seven inches in height and weighed 113 pounds. She was smooth-faced and deep-voiced. Her attire was the usual clothing of men. She wore her hair clipped close. Her features were prominent and not softened by feminine grace. She was a fighter, too. Once she tried to thrash two stalwart policemen and gave them a tussle before they subdued her. The wowan conducted an employment agency on Sixth Avenue, and accumulated £8000. She leaves this to an adopted daughter.
