TO CORRESPONDENTS.

CALENDAR OF GARDEN OPERA-

TIONS-3VJARCII Ist

French Beans and Grafting Apple Trees (Amateur).—l have been away for a holiday and your letter did not come to hand till late. I think that it would now be too late for you to sow Frenc?i beans, as I do not think there would be time for the crop to mature before the winter sets in. Regarding, your apple trees, you might try and bud your trees now, and if the buds do not take you could graft next spring. The best time of all to graft is just as the sap begins to rise, in the spring of tfae year.

Budding Fruit Trees (M. and C.).~1n budding peach trees it is not necessary to cut oii' all the branches, only cut off a, few near where the bud is put on. The balance of the branch o;m be al'oweu to grow on the tree till next, sprin., when the 'whole of the top of young ire-; down lo the bud is ct___off. The bad, if it takes, will then become the tree. If the bud does not take, you then can graft in the spring.

Specimen of Accac-ia (Wattle). — Your .specimen lias come to hand, but I have not been able to identify it. I will tryto obtain the information for you, and let you know if possible. In my estimation, there is none of the blooms suitable for a fence in our climate, as they become broken in time.
