SUBMARINE WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
Professor Elisha Gray, of Boston, has scored the first important scientific discovery of the century. We are told thsvt ke has perfected an apparatus by which he can transmit the sound ©f a bell under water for a distune. Qi 12 miles- Such an invention would, if developed, be of great practical utility. It would go far to counteract' the danger from submarine torpedo boats, whose approach might be signalled in ample time for precautions to be taken; and it would probably be of great assistance in protecting navigation fcpm the perils arising from fog.
