REPORT.

Horses: At the Haymarket on Friday last entries were scarcely up to the

average, and no doubt the rough state of the weather was the cause of both that and a smaller attendance than usual.However, all horses with age and quality ia their favour met a ready sale. Hacks sold up to £1C; buggy horses, £12 5/ to £15; ponies and light grg horses, £4 to £7; well-bred mare, with foal at foot, £15.

Hay and straw: Very little.brought forward; meadow hay, per cwt., 1/9; oaten, sheaves, per cwt, 1/9; small loads meadow; hay, 12/; straw, 19/ to 23/ load.

Grain, etc.: At Friday's auction oats sol<S at 2/2; chaff, at £3. Ex store, maize sola at 2/8 to 2/7; wheat, 2/9; oats, 2/2 to 2/3 bushel; chaff, £3 5/ to £3 10/; bran, £4 5/; sharps, £4 15/ ton; maize, ex wharf, 2/3J grass seeds and clovers, at list prices; Inferior cocksfoot and ryegrass'for rough' sowing1, at low prices.

Hides, skins, tallow, etc.: A similar saltf in all lines to last week, with much about the average quantity; prices unaltered* Wool, in small lines, sold freely at fully; late prices; crossbred, 43d to 51d; longwool, 4d to 4Jd; lambs, 4d to 4id; pieced, 2cC to 2id Ib. At Pukekohe, on Monday, less than tlfor usual number of cows at profit were yarded; all other classes fully represented; bidding free throughout. Dairy cows wer« from £4 17/6 to £G 10/ each; heifers, £4 7/« to £G 10/; calves, 19/ to £2 8/; two-year-oil steers, £3 10/; three-year-olds, £5 10/; fat heifers, £5 to £G 5/.

At Helensville, on Wednesflay, a small muster of cattle, but a full one of sheep, met a steady demand at full values. Twoi to three-year steers brought £4 6/ each; fat cows, £5 10/; dry cows, £2 15/ to £3 3/; IS-months heifers, £2 2/ to £2 10/; calves, £1 3/ to £2 2/; wethers, IC/Ji to 15/3; ewe 3, 7/3 to 14/; lambs, 5/ to 9/G.

At the special sale held at Mr Rutherford's, in spite of the gloomy weather* there was the largest attendance on record. Prices were satisfactory. The waggon brought £18; buggy, £13 10/; spring cart, £9 7/6; gig, £14; dairy cows and heifers, £3 17/6 to £5 .15/ each; dry cows, £3 7/ to £5 6/; heifers, £3 6/ to £317/; twotooth Lincoln ewes, 18/ and 18/3; four and six-tooth, 12/9 to 14/; aged ewes, 10/6. to 12/: ■wethers, 13/9 to 14/9; lambs, 9/; rams, I to 1h guineas; draught horses, £11 15/ to £37; riding horses, £5 to £18; ponies, £5 to £8 10/.

There was an average muster of stock at Remuera on Thursday, and prices on the ■whole were a shade lower, with the exception of dairy cows, which were in keen demand. Cows at profit ranged in price from £5 to £8 7/6 each. No store cattle yarded. Fat and young calves, short of requirements; fresh dropped, 3/ to' 6/ each: medium, 8/ to 14/; heavy, up to £2 16/; 50 sold. The beef pens were fairly well filled with a good "class of cattle, which .brought from 19/ to £1 2/ the 1001b for steers and heifers; aged cows, 15/ to 18/. Steers ranged in price from £5 10/ to £9 15/ each; cows, £4 to £7 2/6. Sheep of all classes were well represented. Wethers brought from 15/ to 17/9 each; ewes, 13/ to 15/6 for heavy weights; lighter sorts of mixed sexes, 10/ to 15/; 1100 sold. Lambs of good quality were scarce. Best sorts brought from 9/ to 12/6 each; lighter weights, 7/ to 8/6 each; 200 sold. Pigs, penned in moderate numbers, were at late values.
