Sir,—My attention has been called to a letter in the "Star" of the 25ih signed R. B. Mason, in reference .10 changing the nume of Karangahape X?v&. I think it would have been well for your correspondent 10 have learned all the facts of Uic case he is writing about before writins:. The facts are these: When the
committee's report was b.ought up recommending the alteration to Graf ton I moved an amendment to the effect that the name should be Newton, Or. Salmon seconding. After discussion tho amendment was put and los; by 15 to 4 votes. Or aainion tac-n asked to have the matter £:.:ourned._ but was told, "You are too swetlf,^ a ma J'ority against "urthe^ Z^^l^TaTe^ "* "pper QuMnnit. *»j££ JAMIESO*
