A committee meeting of the Auckland Collie Club was held last week, when all accounts up to date were passed for payment. The certificates and medals won at the late shew have been ordered and will be presented as soon as the printers and manufacturers have them ready.

The New Zealand "Field" says Mr J. Horrax's collie bitch Harmony (well known in Auckland) has whelped live nice puppies, the sire being Rabblo Burns.

A Home paper states that a visitor was lately in England from Egypt buying up bloodhounds to trade escaped pilgrims who made private tracks from processions to Mecca.

At a meeting of the Dunedin Fanciers' Club held a few days ago the secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Kennel Club asking for a balancesheet and that certificates be sent vo -owners of d)gs registered.

A show was held at Masterton on February 20th. Mr Clifford judged. There was not a very large entry, collies being thje best represented classes. Mr ,T. Rennie's Viking won in open clogs, and it is pleasing to note that a bitch In regular work was first in the bitch class, viz.. Miss Buick's Bonny Lass, who also took the special prize for the best looking oollie bitch in the show. The entries of Messrs A. Stewart, J. Horrax, J. F. Mills. Paul Hunter, W. A. Smith, C. Louisson and Dr. Newman, who were not represented, were badly missed.

"Cassell's Saturday Journal" givas an interesting account of the most remark-able-fire brigade In.the world. In Dawson City, Klondyke, the engine is drawn by a team of dogs. The dogs on duty at the fire station jump, like horses used for such duty, into their proper places in front of the engine, the moment they hear the bell signal calling out the brigade; the collars, which are ready in proper position, are put on, and a few seconds later they are dashing" through the streets of the town.

A strange case of canine cannibalism fs reported as having occurred in Liimerick. ,It appears that whilst a .'say wad promenading in the North Circular Road le■cently, accompanied by a pet terrier, she ■Observed a Newfoundland dog approaching, and for the better protection of her 'charge took the terrier under her orm. |The Newfoundland, however, rushed at the lady, knocked her down, and seizing the .'unfortunate terrier, tore the unfortunate animal asunder, and, devoured it. The lady has received a severe shock over the occurrence, and summonses have been issued in connection therewith.
