W.C.T. UNION.

The usual meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Central Mission Hall, Albert,street/ofl Wednesday, Mrs A. Thorne, President, in' the chair. It was resolved to -.Write the City Council asking whether anything had yet been done in the matter of the Curfew BelJ. As all the accounts were not yet in the treasurer was unable to place the balance-sheets of the anniversary social and the kiosk at the Domain before the members, but they would be ready for next meeting. It was resolved that a very hearty vote of thanks be accorded to all friends who had so willingly helped at both functions, and especially to Mr W. PI. Smith for the use of the tent, etc. Much indignation was expressed at the proposed project to erect stables close to the Western Park, causing discomfort not only to the residents, but to the many children who now used the Park as a playground. The secretary was Instructed to forward to Lord Ranfurly lor early transmission to the King a copy of the resolution of sympathy on the death of the late Queen, passed at the anniversary meeting. The election of superintendents of the various depart-ments-was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows:—Literature, Miss Hughes; Social Purity, Mesdames Hughes and Aston; Unfermented Wine, Mrs Plummer; Bible in, Schools, Mrs Dewar; Scientific Temperance Instruction In Schools, Mrs Main; Poor Fund, Mrs Hill; "White Ribbon, Mrs "Wallace. After. Mrs Thorne (delegate to the Convention) had received the instructions of the members the meeting was closed in Sue form.
