In the summing up in the ease against Patrick Hennessey, at the Supreme Court to-day, the chief Justice (Sir Kobert Stout) commented strongly on the. practice of mining companies paying their men in cheques, thus placing in their way the temptation to spend their money by cashing the cheques at hotels. His Honor thought it waß a disgraceful practice, and he felt bound to draw attention to it. A unique concert will be given by Mr T, Prosser at the Wesley Hall tomorrow evening.
