The committee recommended, in accordance with the suggestions made by the Canterbury Professorial Council, that section 9 of the statute, relating to degrees in medicine, be altered by omitting the word "biology," and substituting- for it the words "botany or zoology": and suggest that the examiner in biology, in the intermediate medical examination, be instructed to divide his paper into three sections, one dealing with general biology, one with botany, and one with zoology. The committee recommended that Section 111. of the statute, relating to degrees in medicine, be repealed, and the following substituted for it: —"There shall be two examiners in each of the sub : jects of the first, second, and third professorial examinations." The committee were of opinion that the regulation preventing bachelors of medicine, unless graduates in arts or science, going on to tlie doctorate, should be repealed, if it be found possible to provide adequate facilities for advanced medical study, and to secure efficient examiners.
