Notwithstanding the unfavourable indications about a hundred people came down from Paeroa to attend the picnic. Our Thames correspondent telegraphs: "The Wakatere left at 9.15 this morning' for Motutapu, carrying* about 400 excursionists to the Oddfellows' picnic. An hour after she left a tejegTam was received from Auckland stating that the picnic had been postponed. The weather here, thoug-h overcast, is fairly fine, the wind having- gone down."
