THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD.
A meeting of the members of the Thames Drainage Hoard was convened for 11 o'clock this morning, but as only Messrs S. Hesketh, J. R. Cray, and T. Bad ford were present, it lapsed for want of a quorum. On Saturday at noon the election of members for the Board takes place at the Thames. ItARRIKi- It KEFS. The battery has been crushing steadily since the 7th instant, and the tramming of quartz from the mine keeps pace with the work at the mill. In the mine the east drift at the third level is still being- extended eastward, and the outlook there is very promising. The'quartz in the face is 1-S inches wide, and is sent to the mill as broken out. This development at the east end is very encouraging, as the reef a short way back threatened to pinch out and quit. The quartz is now improving as the drive proceeds. MAY QUEEN EXTENDED. The rise, on tlie Hokianga reef in the ■May Queen Extended ground has connected with Messrs Jenkins Bros." old workings, so that good ventilation has been secured. No quartz was broken for the last 25 feet of the rise, hut from present appearances it is expected that the breaking will give satisfactory results.
