HARBOUR BOARD.
The Works and Tariff Committee of the Auckland Harbour Board met jesterdaj afternoon. Mr Malcolm Niccol in the chair. There were also present Messrs C. C. Dacre, J. Stichbury, and A. It. Harris. It was decided that non-explosive (vegetable) oil be used on the explosives hulk; ar.d that the Devonport Domain Board be requested to consent to the erection of signboards on Rangitoto warning shootists of the danger of firing in the direction of the hulk. It was decided to erect*gates on St. Helier's Wharf, to be under the control of the Ferry Company. Messrs John Burns and Co. wrote asking for £11 compensation, the value of a wheel broken by the Board's employees in transhipment from the Sierra. It was agreed to poy the claim. ■ It was decided to forward to the Commissioner of Police details of the robberies which have taken place recently on the ■wharves and shipping, with a view to the Commissoner taking action. The questions of providing berthing accommodation for small vessels and for landing cattle were deferred.
