An amusing little story comes from Natal of a newly joined army doctor, quite ignorant of the Kaffir tongue, who was confronted by a voluble native driver of a. water cart, and in touching belief as I o the white man's omniscience consulted a.s to the best manner of repairing an accident which had happened to it.
