Among the passengers by tlie Westralia is Corporal Coutts, of Taranaki, who Avas one of the recipients of four scarves presented by the Queen for conspiicu.ou.s gallantry in thei , field. Coutts won his at Koornspruit, the other three scarvew g-orng to NewSouth Wales, Canadian, and Roberts' Horse. Coutts was with General French right up to Ivomatipoort. . He speaks highly of the Free State as an agricultural and pastoral country. Water can be obtained anywhere by sinking. Coutts intends returning to South Africa.
