SWIMMING.
Swimmers are reminded that entries for the forthcoming swimming carnival close next AYednesday with Mill. G. Chevis.
Some 200 boys and adults attended at the baths last week, when two squads were put through life-saving-drill by officers of the local centre. The Napier Board of Education has written to the local centre asking for particulars of the new scheme for swimming instructors in schools, and inquiries are coming in from various schools in our own district.
Word has been received that tho first championship (220 yds) to be held during the coming carnival at Christchurch will be swum on December 29.
The Association have been asked to assist in an agitation for the erection of baths at the top of Symonds-street for the benefit of the people of Mount Eden, Kyber Pass, and surrounding districts. The matter should receive the consideration of the Association. It is certainly an excellent idea.
