ORURU AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of settlers and others was held in Mr Thomas' Hall, Oruru, Mangonui County, on Saturday, Ist inst. Mr G. Wilkinson was in the chair and briefly referred to the advantages to be gained by such a society and from a show in connection therewith. After discussion it was resolved to form an association under the above title, to include Oruru, Peria, Mangonui arid surrounding- districts. It was further resolved that a show be held in March, on a date to be fixed. The following- general committee were elected : — Mesdames Houston, Welsh, Larably, G. Wilkinson, Hazard, Misses C. Wylea and Adamson, Messrs A. Sturge, G. Wilkinson, W. Wilkinson. A. K. Welsh, J. Garton, A. D. Lambly, A. Ourton, C. Garton, 11. Povey, J. Francis, A. D. Clemett, Jamleson, Watts, A. Maria, (}. Frear, W. Hazard, G. Thomas. A. McKay, II: King-, \V. Johnson, A, Adamson, and t\ Adumson. Mr K. M. Houston, M. H.li.. was elected President, and Mr J. VV. Lambly Vice-President. The executive committee consists of the President, Vlce-Preaiilent, Messrs A. D. Lambly, G. Wilkinson, G. Thomas, G. Frear, W. Johnson, J. Garton, and A. E. Welsh. Messrs. A. D. Lambly and A. E. Welsh are the secretaries, and. the latter is also treasurer. Judging by the Interest shown and the large attendance at the meeting the society and the show should be v success.
